A Childhood Memory

I remember going sledding with my family after Christmas one year in Idaho. This was before my mom died. I think I was about seven. My grandparents bought us some really nice sleds from L.L. Bean. One was a toboggan and one was a runner sled. They were made of wood and really sturdy and fast. My brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, aunt, and I all went across the street and up this gigantic hill. I remember sledding for a really long time and going so fast. We all fell a few times but it was really fun and everyone was laughing and having a good time.

  • My Interests and Hobbies

I like hanging out with friends, barbequing, drinking beers, and sitting outside if it’s nice out.  That’s a pretty standard summertime activity for me. I also really like to go swimming in rivers, lakes, and oceans. I don’t really like to swim in chlorinated pools. I love to go camping and am hoping to go next weekend to the river and camp for a few days. I also like hiking, riding my bike, and walking my dogs. Being outside in any way is fun for me. I like to read and do art projects like sewing, knitting, collaging, decoupaging, and painting. I am working on an art room so that I can do that more often and have my materials more accessible.

  • What’s For Dinner

I made some pasta with smoked turkey sausage, zucchini, peas, onion, garlic, and alfredo sauce for dinner last night. That is something I make a lot because it’s easy, cheap, and there are always leftovers for me to eat for lunch. Tonight I am going to make teriyaki chicken thighs in the oven and serve them with a stir fry of rice, broccoli, garlic, onions, peas, carrots, and corn. The other night I made chicken thighs with a really good potato bake. I used a broccoli cheese soup mix and tossed it with potatoes cut into cubes and onions and then baked it for about 45 minutes. That was really good and I will probably make it again soon.

  • The Current Economic Downturn

I didn’t think much of it at first because I wasn’t seeing any firsthand evidence that there was a recession. But within the past year I have felt the effects more and more. I lost my job as a nanny because the family could no longer afford to have a nanny. Since then, I have noticed how difficult it is to find a new job. I have applied at all kinds of places and had to give up on the idea of being a nanny because it seems most families cannot afford them anymore. I recently moved and it has been even more difficult in my new city because it is smaller and relied on logging and fishing, which, apparently, is an industry that is suffering.

  • My Day So Far

My day is going pretty good, I suppose. It would have been nice if the sun came out today so that I could have taken my dogs on a walk or rode my bike to a friend’s house. My dogs are being kind of annoying because they have been in the house too long. Hopefully my boyfriend will take them on a run when he gets home from work. I wanted to start making some curtains today but I need a sewing machine. Mine is in storage in Oregon. I’ve just been cleaning, watching movies, and using the Internet. Right now I am watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which is by far the worst movie of the series.

  • Life is…

Life is a little baby developing within a transparent seashell; an old vinyl being played over and over while the children are asleep. Life is a tiny miniscule rubber ball that bounces over and over and high and higher until it falls to the ground and then just rolls… and rolls. Life is performance done by a mute a blind and a deaf… not knowing what to hear, say, or see. It is a blind step on a thin and fragile rail; where the train pursues what you do, and seems it is coming after you. Life is nothing else than art and poetry; disturbing and awing wonder. A secret that everyone knows of but no one really knows it. Life is to be enjoyed and not wasted. Life is to be loved and respected.

  • My Whereabouts

This place is a great one; it has some of the greatest touristic attractions I´ve ever seen; along with big rivers and enormous waterfalls. It is the ideal place for kayaking, doing rappel, climbing mountains, and all those extreme activities crazy and talented people do (too bad I´m just crazy). We have deserts in this place as well; we have beaches and caves. Anything one can imagine can be found in this place. You say, “And the weather?”, and I say; “It is hot!” in the literal meaning of the word. We´re always sweating over here; maybe that´s how all those rivers were born.

  • How not to Dress

Who doesn´t love the classic kaki pants eh? And a squared long-sleeve t-shirt? Those two make a perfect combination; as if they were meant to be together. Those two make a perfect pair. I did dress with the just described clothes; along with a pair of worn-out shoes of a brand I will not mention; let´s just say they had a little cat walking on them. I wore my aviator sunglasses not just for style and to look preppy; I had to wear them, it was almost necessary to do so, since the sunlight was so bright and a soft caress of it could leave someone blind. That´s what I wore today; simple clothing for an easy and enjoyable day.

  • The One Thing

What is life without the world? What is the world without life? If I was to have anything from the world, I would choose eternal life and an infinite world; a world with no boundaries and total and complete freedom. A world where one could visit another country without paying; a world with no countries perhaps… where the country is the world and our world is the only existing country. A place where one could travel from here to there without being stopped and question and sometimes bribed. No frontiers would separate a place like such. I´d like a place beautiful and great as such, but above all; I´d like to remain accompanied from my loved ones.
