I have a couple of hobbies, some school-related, others decidedly not. For one, I like Japan. I like Japanese comics, Japanese film, and I’m in the process of learning the Japanese language. I also like playing piano and video games, but I don’t play them as often as I used to. Now, I’m more busy with school work. I also really like to read, which comes in handy at university. In fact, I have about three hundred pages to finish in four days’ time – then I’m going to discuss the book with the president of the university. Oh, the joys of being underprepared. I also like traveling (I love flying, but hate airports and planes), drawing (fun fact: I thought about majoring in fine art, now I’m a microbiology major), and cooking.

Vaccination of your dogs is crucial to their health. There are several, very real, diseases that your dog can contract. One of them being that Canine Parvovirus. This virus is transmitted through feces of infected dogs. Transmission is unfortunately, very easy. If your unvaccinated puppy or immuno-compromised adult dog in any way comes in contact with the infected feces, serious illness or even death can occur. The symptoms include diarrhea (often with blood), vomiting, lethargy, impedance, and the lack of desire to drink. If the puppy is not seen promptly by a Veterinarian when the symptoms occur, the mortality rate is very high. Once brought to your local Vet, your puppy still only has a 50-50 chance at survival. The only way to help prevent this virus is to vaccinate. The vaccination is called a DHLPP, or DHPP. If the puppy has 3-4 of these vaccines spaced 3 weeks apart, your puppy is protected. So, with a happy, healthy puppy, you can get your puppy a costume. Just make sure the label says large Halloween costumes for dogs to avoid any danger.

I’m a college student, which means that I don’t have much money and therefore am often doomed to get my meals at the student cafeteria, loathed by many for good reason. The food has a reputation of getting steadily worse as the year progresses (and indeed, I was barely eating come the end of last year), and I think recently, the slippery slope has begun sloping downhill. So, I’ve been enjoying things like grilled cheese sandwiches, apples, and nice bowls of cereal, which makes me out to look like I have the palate of an eight-year-old (which I indeed might). However, I’m just eating the things that tend to not be made terrible by the influence of our cafeteria.
