America’s Roller Coast

I love traveling. Though we don’t have the money to blow on expensive vacations and cruises every year, we make do with what we have. We set a few days each summer to spend in Sandusky, Ohio at Cedar Point. We stay at Hotel Breakers. This past year, they gave us a complimentary upgrade. Our room was in the new Towers section. We spent our days riding the huge coasters and relaxing on the beach. It rained the second day we were there, but we took that time to hang out at the hotel and lounge by the indoor pool. I wish I lived there. It’s always so perfect.

  • Well Rounded for Sure!

Last night I had the privilege of sampling some of the finest foods at my local Air Force base dining facility. While in line my eyes crossed what the AF calls “Swiss Steak”, looked satisfying so I had one put on a plate for me along with boiled carrots, kiwi-infused gravy over mashed potatoes, and lastly a healthy sized dinner roll. To drink I had 2 large glasses of water. The steak had some sort of cheese melted over the top of it and when cut with a knife had the consistency of what seemed like hamburger meat. Do not be fooled! This was one of the more delicious meals I’ve ever been served while eating “Chow Hall” style.

Sadly though, the Phillies traditionally have been a team that always gave high hopes to its fan base while producing much less exciting results. They’ve been around longer than almost every Major League Franchise and they’ve lost many more games than they’ve won. Still, the last few years have given their rabid fan base an opportunity to feel as though they’ve witnessed the birth of a tradition. A tradition of winning that has only been felt sporadically over brief periods of time. Will this truly develop into a tradition that can stand the test of time? It certainly seems possible with the strong core of young and in-their-prime talent that they now possess. As a lifelong fan, I can only hope against hope that this is the golden age of Phillies baseball that follows what can only be described as the dark ages.
