After spending time Friday rehearsing for possible gigs, I spent Saturday taking a trip to see my aunt and uncle that live about fifty miles away, but not before I stopped at a fresh fruit store along the way and picked up a basket of peaches for them and a large chocolate candy bar with crystallized ginger in it. After my visit I drove home and dove into doing some much needed housework and caught up on email. Sunday was spent working at the animal shelter until late afternoon and then I concentrated on my music again until evening when I visited with my neighbors across the street. Bedtime came around eleven o’clock.

Start Trek is my favorite TV shows of all time because there is much more to it then meets the eye. Each show usually has a theme that involves the interactions of society on different levels or how we, as creatures of the universe, react to certain situations. Sometimes I wish that my life was like Star Trek, as it shows a world where hunger and disease has been reduced or eliminated and most forms of life are respected. There is less prejudice and hate of our fellow man and woman. People are free to do what they want without the restriction of class or society. There are true friendships on the show. The brotherhood-like friendship of Kirk and Spock and McCoy show these qualities. They would give their lives for their friends. I feel this is a valuable trait. I too would do this for some of my friends. All in all, I think it is one of the most creative, and interesting shows. Many products such as flip cell phones were first thought of on this wonderful show. Live long and Prosper!!

Today started out normal with the normal daily routine but my daughter did have her first check-up at the dentist. No big worries until my husband said he needed to get in also because of the pain he was having in one of his teeth. The dentist agreed to get him in last minute at the same time as my daughter. The original plan was that he would take her and I would stay home with the other kids. No deal! So off we all went. My daughter did great but trying to manage her and my other two plus my husband being in another room was a challenge. The kids all wanted to see daddy. After 2 hours we were done and had to make a mad dash to get the kids to school and make an appointment I had. Ugh. It was a long morning.

Last week, I was preparing for the mother of all garage sales. Close to 100 years of old books, pictures, furniture, and other assorted miscellanea has been slowly decaying in my basement and attic – but it was finally time to sell it all. One of the ritzy estate dealers had already rifled through and gotten the real treasures, the rest could go to the bargain hunters. I had spent weeks preparing – sorting, tagging, cleaning – and Wednesday morning I felt strangely free clicking “submit” on my Craigslist ad. Not two hours later, I got an email from a not-so-ritzy estate buyer. In two shakes of a lamb’s tail, I had agreed to let him come peruse the leftovers on his offer to “buy the whole shebang.” That same afternoon, we shook on a deal – he got it all, I got a rock bottom price (but several weekends had just been freed up). In the next two days, I helped him move more than 200 boxes into the waiting trucks. Now I sit – weary yet relieved – wondering how I’m going to spend next weekend.
