For Christmas, the best and neatest gift I got was an engagement ring from a man who I loved more than life itself. We were dirt poor, still going through school, thinking we had the world by the tail and ready to tackle it all together. The ring was exactly 99 dollars, on sale, and contained the smallest chips of cut glass that you had ever seen. It was inlaid with silver to make it sparkly and seem must more glittery than it was. I still have that ring, and I have gotten the man back, after 25 years apart. It means much more to me now than it did then!

I don’t think I could pick just two people to go on holiday with. I’m afraid I would have to pick my husband, our children and my parents. Then, if there was any room, I would pick my sister, her husband and their children also. It would be at Disney World in California. I know most English people go to Florida as it is nearer, but I would prefer to go to California so I could explore the region as well. The first few days would be spent at the Theme Parks for the children, then we would visit Los Angeles, San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. The holiday would have to be at least a month long to see and do everything on our list.

Christmas 2010 has been very enjoyable for me. The best part of it for me is spending time with my family, opening our presents and eating too much chocolate. Everyone cut back on presents due to the financial climate, but what was given were presents thoughtfully and carefully chosen. The worst part of this year’s Christmas was the snow. Yes I know everybody loves a White Christmas, unfortunately the snow we had was melted slush, so it wasn’t quite the same. If we get a White Christmas for 2011, I hope it’s fresh powdery now. It looks beautiful and would really make my Christmas.

2010 has come and gone and has been a year of ups and downs. The year started out with the earthquake in Haiti. Over a quarter of a million people reported to have died. Later in the year 29 miners trapped underground in New Zealand all perished, however 33 miners trapped underground in Chile made it out alive after 69 days. For me, the best news that came in 2010 was that the 2018 World Cup, despite an England bid involving both Prince William, David Beckham and David Cameron, is going to be held in Russia instead. As somebody who hates football, this is good news.
