The Charity of My Choice

If I had a million pounds to give away to charity, I would choose a local charity so I could see the money being put to good use.  The charity I would choose is Age UK Somerset.  They work with the growing elderly population in this area to ensure that they are safe and warm.  The elderly are helped to keep active, to ensure that they claim all the benefits they are entitled to, plus their quality of life is improved.  It is a very worthwhile charity, it covers the local population and I would feel that the money would be well spent.

I drive a Rover.  It is blue, has 5 seats, and is very comfortable.  The car may have a bit of  rust and is getting on in years, but when I put the key in the ignition it still takes me to where I need to go.  I have had the car for 7 years and have never considered selling it.  I saw it in the classified section of the local paper and thought that it was perfect for my growing family.  It drives as smoothly now as it did when I bought it.  Snow is not a problem for it (it holds the road as firmly as a tank) and it climbs hill with no effort at all.  I have the car serviced twice a year and check its water, oil and tyres regularly.  The car has been a very good buy and long may it continue.

  • If I Could Live Anywhere

My ancestors have lived in Somerset for the past 300 years (the earliest I have managed to track them back) so, even if I had a lottery win, I still would not leave Somerset.  There are plenty of places I would like to visit for a holiday, but I cannot imagine myself ever leaving Somerset.  I would like to fly to New York and take a leisurely road trip, driving through Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas. Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada before finishing up in California and flying home.  I also like spending time in Cornwall, Yorkshire and Lancashire but am also happy to drive home again to Somerset.   The only thing I would change, if money was no object, would be to buy a bigger home; but it would still be in Somerset.   My family have been very happy living in Somerset for all of this time and I can’t see any reason for me to leave.

There are many fictional superheroes (for example Superman, Spiderman, Batman) but my favourite superheroes are The Incredibles.  If I could be a superhero I would take some of the combined powers that The Incredibles have (being able to run so fast I could run on water, put up a force field, make myself invisible) plus add the ability to fly.  I would able to fly into the atmosphere and change the weather (so if there was a storm coming, I could alter the course of it).  My name would be Thunder Mum.  I would be dressed in red, with black boots and black cuffs and have a black lightening fork on the front.  I would wear a black eye mask as a disguise.  My alter ego would be a mild mannered secretary, working to support her family (my husband would be a house dad) but whenever there was need, I would be saving the world.
