Our neighbor has three Dachshunds, two females and a male. These dogs are real barkers. As soon as she opens the door, they come charging out and start to bark. She has a fenced in back yard, so if someone walks by, they run from one side to the other, around the house, to keep barking at the person. They also do a whole lot of digging in the yard, mainly around the fence. They dig furiously and continuously all around the perimeter. They even dig at Christmas stockings for dogs. Perhaps this is a characteristic of the breed, because they haven’t ever escaped, although the holes are more than deep enough for them to crawl under. Many people in this neighborhood are extremely bothered by the constant barking, to which the owner seems oblivious. Luckily for us, she packs them up every year to go to her winter home in Alabama.
