In my community there is not a strong desire for community improvement. It is mostly a community of people who do whatever they can to get by on their own. If I were to be in a position to make changes, I would start by becoming State governor. In this position, I could make changes in taxes and city regulations. I would be able to take an over viewing position of everything that was going on not just in my community but in those surrounding mine. Instead of just raising awareness in my single community why not combine the efforts of those around mine as well? One community might not make a huge world change. But a whole bunch of communities together could change the way the State progresses.

Growing up, I played a lot of card games. From TCG to out and out poker, I played all of them. One game I played far more than the others was gin rummy. I must have played it everyday for a solid 7 years of my life. My brother, whom I played with most often, and myself were notorious for playing cards anywhere we sat down at. Restaurants, school, public parks, anywhere. It was uncommon to see either of us without a deck of cards on us. We played everything with our cards, from tonk to caravan. But rummy was always the main game.

One book that I read that changed my life was Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. The book paints a dystopian future in which the fire fighters do not actually put out fires, but burn items that were considered “harmful” to the society by Big Brother. The book changed the way I look at the government, made me more questioning of political decisions and representative’s and changed the way I responded to authoritative figures. All in all, it is probably the most influential book I have ever read. Of course, I have read many books so I am sure there have been others. But none stick out quite like that one.
